Survivor’s husband: Bob Bothel, retired senior federal employee, former Director of Europe for a US University, father of one, stepfather of two, grandparent of 4, but most importantly–husband of a breast cancer survivor. Bob and Toby are now the founders of TAB Education Partners where Toby is one of the country’s leading experts on STEM Education.
Survivor’s Sister: Carol Nolan is retired from EyeMed Vision Care, and is the sister of Judy (Nolan) Akins. Throughout their lives, the two have celebrated each other’s triumphs, as well as locking arms together to overcome any adversity that came their way, the most challenging being Judy’s 2 1/2 year battle with breast cancer that began in 2012.
Doctor: Gordon McLennan, M.D., who is on the Radiology & Bioengineering staff at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, has over 10 years of experience in cancer drug release research. He has been collaborating with Professor Puskas for 4 years and led the studies on the polymer-based cancer diagnostic agents with the “magic claws.” He will explain why the research of Professor Puskas is so promising for cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Researcher: Dr. Judit Puskas, Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Akron, in collaboration with The Cleveland Clinic is conducting ground-breaking research related to the treatment of breast cancer and breast reconstruction surgery. She is the recipient of the 2017 Charles Goodyear Gold Medal, the highest honor bestowed on a scientist by the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society.
